Travels
A little while ago, I tried to update my journal. But I lost my internet connection before I could post. Not gonna talk about that. My computer was down and out of commission for a few days last week. Not gonna talk about that either. I will say that tomorrow I am going to Jeff City for the day. It will be fun. I am going to do some Lobbying. It will be so cool. On Friday I leave for San Francisco. It will be amazing. So, I am going to travel a lot this week. It should be pretty wonderful. That's all. Ohh, two of you already know what I was going to post about anyway, so it really does not matter. | | Thursday, February 12th, 2009 | | 2:03 pm |
Vacation
I am going on a short vacation at the end of March. Yes, short is the word that describes it perfectly. I leave Friday Morning and come back Monday evening. In fact, one could describe it more as a long weekend than a vacation, but I have to fly to get there, so I am calling it a vacation. In case any of you care, I am going to San Francisco for the weekend. This is of course, after Lobby Day on Wednesday, Jukebox Jamboree on Thursday, and then a long weekend in San Fran. WOW! That is going to be a fabulous week! Maybe I will write a longer post in a few days describing what has been going on. It has been some odd days as of late. On some things I am way a head of the game, and other things, I am way behind. It is, I guess, what one refers to as life! | | Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 | | 11:28 am |
Cold
I have no room to complain because I am not in Wisconsin, but I am really dreading this 13 for the high tomorrow. I won't run outside in this weather. I need to get more exercise but not when it is this cold out. On a completely unrelated note, if anyone knows of anyone in St. Louis looking for a roommate, send them my way. Mine moved out a week ago and have not found a replacement one. I might end up having to move, which is something that I don't want to do, because I hate moving, and I like my place so much. | | Wednesday, December 24th, 2008 | | 8:44 pm |
Is It or Isn't It?
I may have went on a date Sunday. The thing is, I just don't really know. It had some date like qualities, but then again it had some qualities of just two friends hanging out. It has me totally confused. But perhaps in a good way! Let me start out by giving some background information. I run with a group of people. This summer we had a new member named Jerry join the group. When he joined he had a boyfriend, George. (These aren't their real names). Anyway, I misread some signs and thought that Jerry was available, and I found out that he wasn't. But its cool. I played it in a way, that it wouldn't be obvious that I wanted more than just him to come over for lunch. ( Read more... ) | | Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 | | 11:40 am |
Super Funny But..
The following is super funny. But it is offensive. Very offensive.
It is from the comedy troupe the Whitest Kids U Know. They are hysterical. But they like to push the envelope. This is no different. It is hysterical, but did I mention offensive?

Did I Dress Up?
The last time I posted, I spilled a little story about myself. Well, not so much a story, but rather, I said I was asked to do drag. An honor, that I still am proud to admit. But I didn't let you know what happened? I found out that the show was going to be last Friday. As it turned out, I had to open on Saturday. This means that I would not be able to do the show. Well, I could but you don't want me to help people on three hours of sleep or less. Have done it before, it ain't pretty. It looks like a Gilbert Gottfried movie. A lot of yelling and squinting goes on. But I so wanted to do it. It would have been so much fun, I had a song planned, and was ready to dance, shake and perform! After all, I am very energetic person, so this is totally something I would want to do. I will some day, hopefully. And it was a good thing that I was not able to say yes. It turns out, that I got sick on Friday. Well, really I got sick earlier in the week, but it was the kind of sick that you could still function and could not justify being off work. But Friday, whatever I had kicked my ass. And then on Saturday, I got even sicker for the morning and early afternoon. In fact, I even slept! And for more than 6 hours! People who know me, know that if I sleep more than 6 hours it probably means that I am sick, or I was just lucky and didn't have to open. But I slept for probably 12 or 13 hours. Not, in one stretch because goodness gracious thats crazy. But 9 hour here, and an hour there, another hour there, well you get the picture. It was wonderful! Except for the throwing up part. Yeah. Major Yuck! Oh, and the other thing that happened was my car broke down. Well, it only needed a battery, which I was going to replace on Monday, so it of course dies on Friday. And then I had to walk to my parent's home to get the other car. It was frustrating. Maybe that's why I got sick. DAMN YOU BATTERY!! | | Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 | | 6:02 pm |
Life's a Darg
So many things have happened since I last posted. I don't know where to begin, how to reflect on everything that has happened. I will list some of the main things, and then explore one in more detail. Some of the big things: Went to Prop 8 Protest. It rocked! Barack Obama elected President. Grandpa passed away. Spending lots of time with Baby Cousin. Got hit on by a drunk in a bar who thought I looked hot, just like Gallagher. (But at least I have a big hammer!) Was asked If I was willing to do amateur drag. Yes, I was asked the other night if I would be willing to do amateur drag. I know one of the drag queens in St. Louis who is putting together a show. She wants some amateur performers to perform. A group I volunteer with goes to that bar a lot to hand out condoms. So, she wants someone from the group to do it. I haven't not said yes, yet, but I have not said no. It is something that I have to think about, and then start manscaping. The only reason why I wouldn't do it is if I have to be at work at 4:15 in the morning. A late night, and then working with the public don't mix well. But we shall see. It could be lots of fun. Would any of my friends on here ever think of doing drag? I find it fascinating and would love to help her out. So, lets see what happens! | | Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 | | 6:55 am |
Things Are
Things are okay since the last time I have posted. Here is a list of the things that I have been doing since we last talked: I went to the wedding in Madison. It was a blast. I have been working on establish a library for the center where I volunteer. Been working a lot of hours. Training for my next half-marathon. Planning a party for the election. Hanging out with my cousins. Visiting my Grandpa who has entered hospice. Thinking about going to school for yet ANOTHER degree. These are just some of the things that I have been doing. So I have kept myself fairly busy. Let's hope it slows down, or at least gets a little more predictable. | | Monday, October 6th, 2008 | | 7:07 pm |
Get Me to the Church on Time
I am not the one getting married in the morning. And the wedding I don't think will be in a Church. But two of my dear friends are getting married this weekend. And that means, among other things: ROAD TRIP! This is going to be great. I am taking another friend of theirs, and by extention, of mine, with me to Madison. We are leaving on Thursday, and will come back on Sunday. This is going to be a BLAST. I am really excited about this wedding. Most weddings, I hate. But this one will rock. The reason: the party is really close to my room for the night. That means I don't have to be the designated driver! Woohoo!! Not that I will get overly drunk at all, but still it will be nice to be tipsy. Not that it takes much for this scrawny guy to get a buzz going, just saying. Yay! Let's party. And, I have been told that there will be Prince playing at the reception. And by Prince, I mean on a CD not like a live concert, but that would totally kick ass. | | Sunday, September 28th, 2008 | | 4:47 pm |
Party! Party!
The following statement was said by a friend of mine while we were planning a party. "Okay, I will contact the drag queens. John you will get in the touch with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. James will call Mr. Leather." Yes, those words were uttered. It was great. He and I were like "wow!" no one is gay here. The party was supposed to be on October 30, but we think that we may have to change that date. We don't know exactly what is happening, but there was a prior commitmnet that we do that we forgot about until we remembered that October 30 is a Thursday. But whatever, it will all work out no doubt. Things have been good here. Helped a friend move yesterday. And today has been spent teaching, doing laundry and eventually I am going to cook dinner. Dont know what yet. But I will see what Schnucks has. Maybe I will be inspired. Most likely not, but we shall see. | | Saturday, September 13th, 2008 | | 5:16 pm |
A Great Parody
Some you know that I like Drag Queens. I go to some drag shows from time to time and think that they can be wonderful if done right. The following is Jackie Beat. She is great!

Who Cares?
Am I the only one who doesn't care if Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant? How does this make her less capable of being Vice President? By the way, it goes without saying that I won't vote for her, but it has nothing to do with her daughter. It has to do with her policies more than anything. | | Sunday, August 17th, 2008 | | 5:36 pm |
The Future?
I have been thinking a lot recently about this journal. I don't know what I am going to do with it soon. When the journal first began, the posts were much more interesting. They were often very thought-provoking. Now, not so much. I don't know if I am going to end it, or if it wil change, or if I will only post every so often. So, stay tuned for all the latest. If I decide to end the journal, I will do a post telling you all about it. Thanks for reading. | | Saturday, August 9th, 2008 | | 1:44 pm |
The Dark Knight
I finally saw The Dark Knight the other day. WOW! I liked to movie, but I did not think that it was as good as everyone is making it out to be. That's not to say that I didn't like it. Because I did like it. Just not as much as everyone else. So, let's start out be saying this: intense. This movie was scary. Especially the whole pyschological aspect of it all. It is not something that would bring any child to see. I don't think that I saw any children in the theatre when I saw it, but then again I wasn't exactly looking for them either. Heath Ledger. I know that there is a lot of talk about him being nominated for an Academy Award. His performance was good, but I don't know of it is Oscar-worthy. He explored the pure evil side of the Joker perfect. But, and this is my opinion only, he lacked the "joy", comical side of this character that Jack, and Caesar Romero easily captured. However, his version captured the pure evil aspect that the other two did not explore as well. So, it is trade-off. But I really think the star performance in this film is actually Aaron Eckhart and not Heath Ledger. Yeah, I said it. Some of the shots in this movie were gorgeous. And the story was pretty good, although at one point it was a little confusing, but hey, this movie was made for the people who will see it 5 times in the theatre, not me, who will see it only once, maybe a second time if a friend wants to see it. I will say this much about the film. The first 45 minutes or so, phenomenal! But then I started checking my watch. The last half hour or so was also very good. But the chunk in the middle, not that it wasn't good, but it just didn't do it for me. Over all, I did enjoy the movie and am happy at its success. | | Friday, August 1st, 2008 | | 11:04 am |
Super Busy
Boy, things have been busy recenly. Some happenings at work, plus other commitments and I realiized it has almost been a week since I updated! ARGHH! That is all I want to say right now. Things hopefully will slow down soon. They have too, But today I get to tutor someone in math. That will make for a great afternoon. | | Saturday, July 26th, 2008 | | 1:57 pm |
Abba is Fun!
A movie based on a stage musical has the potential to be bad. But the movie I saw the other day is not one of those experiences. Let me start out by saying that "Mamma Mia" is not a great movie. It is campy as all hell. But luckily it never takes itself seriously for a second. In fact, it was the perfect way to handle the movie. The plot is ridiculous, but forget about that for a moment. In fact, I loved the fact the movie seemed to be saying "Look! We're in Greece, ain't it pretty?" and "Here are some good looking young people in bathing suits dancing. Aren't we cool?". And you know? Yeah, they are! This is not going to be one of the movies that go down as a classic. But I have to say that I had so much fun watching this movie. It was a blast from start to finish. In fact, I want to see it again! The cast looked like they had fun making this movie. There are moments of total joy. And try not to smile while hearing the pop music of Abba. I dare you! So if you are looking for a movie to have a great time, and want nothing of real substance from a movie, please go see it. I had a blast, and I left the theatre singing all the songs. Plus, stay for some the credits, it will be well worth it! | | Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008 | | 3:24 pm |
New Tires
I just got finished buying new tires. Had to buy three of them, one of them was in good condition. For some reason, I got a flat tire when the car was new. I ran over a nail or something. I don't remember what. Anyway, I only ended up having to replace one of them. Now I just replaced the other 3. This certainly was an expensive month. I made a larger than normal payment on my computer, and didn't expect this to happen. Oh well, maybe next month will be cheaper. It better be! | | Friday, July 18th, 2008 | | 4:46 pm |
Jobs
Today I applied for a new job, and I have all the paperwork done for the other job I am going to apply to, but just need to get a printer, so I can print it. So, that means I am applying for two more jobs. We are going to see what is going to happen. I have been trying for a while and I am getting a little tired of rejection notice after rejection notice. This needs to change and change fast. I am not going to say what I am applying for, as I would like to see what happens. But it could be interesting. | | Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 | | 4:59 pm |
The Elephant
There is something that I have not talked about on this blog. And that is the sale of AB to Inbev. Okay, so here it is, I am going to talk about it. But it won't be that long. I have an opinion on it, of course, as one would think. But it will not be the one that most of you would think that I would have, Let me start by saying, that I don't drink AB products. I don't like the taste of many of them. And when I heard about the impending sale, I really did not care that much. But once the sale happened, one thought came to my mind right away. That thought? What about all the charitable things that AB does? Of course, InBev does not care about that. And, really why would a company located in a European country really care about what donations an American company does. It shouldn't. I don't expect that it will continue at all. And that is really what had me "angry" but then again that wasn't the right word to describe what I felt. There is a job issue too. Some jobs will certainly be lost. But then I read that InBev will make St. Louis the North American Headquarters for its products. This is a good thing. It means that some of the jobs that may have been lost in the take over, could be shifted. Now, I am not trying to say that this is a good thing. I am not jumping up and down in the middle of the street. This is a sad event no doubt. And certainly these happenings could have effects on people that I know. I hope that it doesn't. I hope that all the people who I know that work there will be safe. But I am hoping that this will not be as bad as everyone thinks it will be. Let the backlash begin! | | Friday, July 11th, 2008 | | 7:22 am |
The Royale
The past two nights I went to the Royale. I didn't intend to go to the same bar two nights in a row. In fact, I didn't plan on going out two nights this week either, but it happened. And I noticed on Wednesday, that the bar has a new drink. Well, I don't know how exactly "new" it is. I don't go to that bar often. A few times a year, but that's about it. I have nothing against it, and in fact, I normally do like it there, but I just forget about it, if that makes sense. The drink sounds nasty: rye, fernet, and sugar. But the neat part is, it is named after someone I know. In fact, it is named after the politician whose compaign I helped. It was kinda cool, so I e-mailed him to make sure it was named after him. It was! Now, I am not going to drink that thing. It sounds nasty. At least he legislates better than he drinks. |
